FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Internet Auto Insurance Companies are Helpful When Moving out of State
DMV Requires New Auto Insurance Policy When Moving to New State
September 6, 2009 — When in the process of a move, everything seems more hectic and hard. From packing the boxes to moving furniture, to all the paperwork that is associated with your move. Everything seems out of order and a mess. One way of easing your burden it to search for automotive insurance online rather than going from agency to agency to get a quote. This can save you a lot of time and hassle.
If you are relocating to another city within your state, there might not be much you need to do about your auto insurance. Usually state requirements are going to remain the same no matter what city you are located in. The main thing you will need to do is make a call to your insurance agent to let them know of you relocation and give them all the pertinent information as to your new address and where the vehicle will be parked.
Changing your information at the Department of Motor Vehicles will be an easy process too since you are staying within state. All you will be required to do is take your title to them and fill out a form. That is all there is to it.
Now if you are moving out of state, this is a completely different process. There is a lot of red tape that goes into changing your address through the Department of Motor Vehicles when moving across state lines.
To register your car, license plate, and insurance with your new state, you will need to show proof of insurance along with the title of your vehicle and proof of inspection. The old information from the prior state is not enough for this. A new inspection and automotive insurance policy is required to be able to register with the new state. Depending on which state you are moving to, you may have an extra 2 weeks after you get your new plates to give them your new inspection and insurance papers.
Getting a new automotive insurance policy via the internet is the best and fastest way to go. If you call your agent to have them change your information, you will have to wait for the documents to get to you through the postal service. Using an online service gives you the option of changing your information or getting a new policy and printing your policy papers out plus proof of insurance right then. No waiting is involved. This can make the whole process of moving a lot easier, at least as far as auto insurance and your vehicles go. The packing of boxes and stuff is still yours to figure out.
