FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Private Health Insurance Plans Give More Leeway to Where You Are Treated
Coverage is Available to Those with Chronic Illness under Private Health Insurance
September 11, 2009 — A vast majority of U.S. citizens have very little knowledge of private health insurance. Many have only heard a few tidbits about it and have questions about how this type of insurance works and what its advantages are.
A Private Health Insurance Plan is a plan that assists you with short-term illness or short-term injuries. The advantage that this gives to your family is that you can get treatment for your injuries or sickness in less time. A private health insurance plan gives you the ability to be seen in private hospitals, that without this type of insurance you would not get into. This can give you more options of where you receive your medical care.
Private Health Insurance does not mean that you cannot go to other hospitals. You have the option of receiving faster care at a private facility but it is not required. If you would prefer to be treated by a hospital that is part of the National Hospital System that is up to you. This type of policy does not stipulate that you cannot utilize the services of the NHS.
You will also be able to decide for yourself if you are treated at a private facility or one in the NHS each time you go for a visit. You are not required to choose one and not be able to change where you are seen. Both facilities will be covered with the same amount of payment regardless of where you choose to be treated.
The kinds of Private health insurance can vary a lot with that of the current market. It is always recommended to find the kind of policy that is best for your own circumstances and will give you the coverage amount that you need personally.
Having the option to be covered for in hospital stays and in-patient services is very important. Most private health insurance will cover this, but make sure that you plan includes it as well. You will be required to add coverage for any outpatient treatment that you wish to receive. This is not automatically in the policy and most likely will raise your premium amount. Outpatient treatment refers to consultations, cat scans, and MRI’s, among others.
Your private health insurance policy will not automatically cover treatments out of the United States. This is also an add-on since most do not require this coverage. It will be available to you but at a higher rate.
Keep in mind, just because you may have been diagnosed with a critical sickness does not guarantee you will not be able to get a private health insurance plan. There will be a period that you will not receive coverage for the pre-existing condition and the rates could be a bit higher, depending on the type of illness.
