If you are relocating to another city within your state, there might not be much you need to do about your auto insurance. The old information from the prior state is not enough for this. A new inspection and automotive insurance policy is required to be able to register with the new state. Depending on which state you are moving to, you may have an extra 2 weeks after you get your new plates to give them your new inspection and insurance papers.
Getting a new automotive insurance policy via the internet is the best and fastest way to go. If you call your agent to have them change your information, you will have to wait for the documents to get to you through the postal service. Using an online service gives you the option of changing your information or getting a new policy and printing your policy papers out plus proof of insurance right then. No waiting is involved. This can make the whole process of moving a lot easier, at least as far as auto insurance and your vehicles go. The packing of boxes and stuff is still yours to figure out.
